Why can’t a large plush pattern simply be scaled down?

The face usually shows the problem first

When a large pattern is reduced mechanically, the eyes, nose and mouth can become crowded. The drawing may still look correct while the finished character’s expression has changed.

Facial features need new spacing

• Re-evaluate eye spacing, nose size and mouth distance at the intended finished size.
• Account for the curve created by fabric and stuffing.
• Check both front recognition and side silhouette, not only the flat artwork.

Embroidery weight changes the expression

A line that looks subtle on a large face may feel heavy on a small one. Small-size work therefore requires pattern, facial placement and embroidery to be reviewed together.
